Veterns Day

This year Aaron decided to come to work with me so we could go watch the parade. It was very emotional for me. I am proud that I live in the United States of America. I am proud that we are FREE. The parade lasted 2 hours. Aaron asked me why I had tears coming down my face. I told him that because of these great men and women that we can continue to live FREE.

Count Your Blessings

Count your blessings. That is something that is easily said and sometimes hard to do. I have been in an organized funk for several months now. As most of you know, we started a small home fix it problem that turned into totally rebuilding half of my house. I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully we are in the end stages of this fix it yourself project. I am so ready to get my house back in order so that I can get ready for the holidays. We have had lots of wonderful help on this project. So thanks are in order:
Darry (bonus-dad) is our contractor.
Pat lots of hard labor even when he was exhausted.
Mom for helping me with kids and food.
Dad for the loan.
Alana & Josh for paint and ceiling fans.
Mike for tile work.
David Turner, Gruder, Mike Huff, Joey Hill, Steve Hambright, Mr. Sapp, Chad Fikes, John Hodgens, Mike Forbes, Matt Hill for coming over and doing more work in 2 nights than we could have done in 2 months.
Mike Forbes for cooking dinner
Jenna Manners for painting
Ashley Hodgens for babysitting
Granny for the use of your travel trailer
Anthony Smith for helping pull up floors
Mr. Smith for doing our yard work while Pat was busy with the house.
I hope that I am not leaving anyone out.

You see I have a lot to be thankful for. Sometimes it is easy to get wrapped up in things like this. But we are so fortunate that we have 3 healthy children. Both of us have good jobs. We have a nice house and cars. We have food on our table. We have a wonderful church family. AND We have a Great and Mighty God who watches over us.

Aaron's Birthday

I neglected to post about Aaron's 12th birthday. I was September 23. I can't believe that he is so grown already. He is the best son a mother could ask for. He is a great big brother and does very well in school. He loves going to church and participating in the youth group and is an excellent pitcher in baseball. He is learning to play the trumpet. I am very proud of him.

A House Divided

Poor Anna Kate, everyone argues over whether or not she will pull for the Crimson Tide or Auburn. So until she is old enough to make her own decision, She will just have to wear both. She loves wearing her tutu that Shannon Turner made, although she just couldn't quite figure out what do to with her hands.

Get Ready to Roll.........................

My family and I have been counting the days to the start of the college football season for months now. Tomorrow is the day. The day the 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide will take the field for the first time this year. This is not a gimme game, right out of the gate, we are playing a top 10 team. The excitement is mounting. It is time to get out the flags, hats and whatever else that you wear that lets others now that you are pulling for the TIDE. I have really been trying to teach Anna Kate to say Roll Tide, but she won't. I will have her saying it by the time the year is over. Will this be the year.....will we win another SEC championship? Will we win another National Championship? I hope so!!

Our Nightmare is beginning..............

Tyler's room had a little dip in the floor. We thought no big deal, we'll fix it. This is what we found. Not a floor joist in tack. We are going to have to replace all the floor and Sheetrock in his room, Aaron's room and the bathroom. Since we are having to do the bathroom we decided to make it bigger and add closets in the boys bedrooms. We have tried to set us a deadline of Thanksgiving. My house is a wreck all the stuff from those 3 rooms is in other rooms of my hosue. It is awful. Thanks to our wonderful family, we aren't having to hire it done.

I need help

I really like posting on my blog, but I am a technical failure. I really type out way more blogs than I post. I always get frustrated with my Pictures not being in the right spot, or some other stupid reason. With that being the case I usually just delete my post and sign off. If someone can offer some help, I would greatly appreciate it. Anna Kate's expression in the above picture is how I feel about blogging.....................HELP!

Save Sumatanga

I saw the most disturbing headline in yesterday's Birmingham News. IT broke my heart and had my eyes welling up with tears. Camp Sumatanga is in trouble. I spent many weeks here as a child and teenager every summer. It is my happy place. We used to say that "God loves the World and Sumatanga is where He kissed it." I am not sure how at this point to get involved in the Fund Raising, but that is my mission today. I can not let this camp be shut down and others not get to enjoy it. Please Pray for Sumatanga.
